The Grosio Rock Engravings Park is a thousand-year-old testimony to prehistoric art, with over five thousand rock engravings dating back to the Iron Age. These engravings, made on granite boulders, depict anthropomorphic figures, animals, tools, and mysterious symbols, offering a unique insight into the life and beliefs of the ancient Alpine peoples. The park, immersed in an evocative natural landscape, offers well-marked routes and a suggestive experience for lovers of history and rock art.

At Grosio, on the top of the hill overlooking the Rupe Magna, stand the Castello di S. Faustino, or 'Old Castle,' and the Castello Visconteo, or 'New Castle.' The oldest building was constructed around the 10th-11th century on the southern end of the hill and is commonly cited, even in documents, as 'Castrum Grosif' or 'Castello di S. Faustino.' The preserved wall remains to allow the castle's perimeter and some structures to be recognized.

The Visconti Castle is the best preserved and most exciting example among the castles in the province of Sondrio. The archaeological excavations conducted between 1992 and 1997 on the entire southwestern area inside the Castello Nuovo brought to light the remains of a settlement that developed in the Bronze Age and Iron Age.
