Access to the valleys: all the information from 31 August

The side valleys in the municipality of Valdidentro — Cancano, Val Viola and Val Lia — are accessible by car, subject to the relevant regulations and the availability of parking spaces.

Below you will find all the latest information on how to arrange access.

🎟️ Day tickets for entry

To access the valleys, you must purchase a day pass costing €5.00 per vehicle, which is valid for both transit and parking until midnight on the same day.

The ticket allows you to drive through and park in the designated areas, but it does not constitute a booking of a parking space: access is always subject to the actual availability of parking spaces.

Cancano and Val Viola

Automatic ticket machines are located along the access roads to Cancano and Val Viola.

You can pay using:

• coins;
• banknotes;
• credit cards.

Please note: the payment terminals do not give change.

For Cancano, it is also possible to buy a ticket directly online.

Valley of Lia

For Val Lia, tickets can be purchased:

• at the Valdidentro Tourist Office;
• directly online.

In this case too, access is subject to the actual availability of parking spaces.

⚠️ Important

The ticket/permit must be displayed clearly on the vehicle’s dashboard, both whilst driving and whilst parked.

There is no parking provision for motorbikes, but you must still carry your ticket with you.

Please note that these roads are not suitable for motorhomes and caravans.

If you hold a disabled parking permit and display it whilst parked or driving, you are exempt from paying the parking charge.

🎟️ Multi-day tickets for entry

If you are staying at accommodation in the valley, you can purchase a multi-day pass directly from the Valdidentro Tourist Office.

If you are unable to visit the Tourist Office, you can purchase the permit online:

Cancano

• Buy a 2-day pass €8.00
• Buy a 7-day pass €15.00

Val Viola

• Buy a 2-day pass €8.00
• Buy a 7-day permit €15.00

Valley of Lia

• Buy a 2-day pass €8.00
• Buy a 7-day pass €15.00

Please note: 

• Purchasing a multi-day permit does not constitute a booking of a parking space; users may park in the first available space;
• The licence you purchase is generated manually, so you do not receive it in real time once you have purchased it;
• The permit you receive must ALWAYS be printed to comply with the display requirement set out in the current regulations.

🚗 Where you can get to by car

📍 Cancano

From 31 August, the perimeter section of the Cancano Lakes is once again open to vehicles.

It is therefore possible to drive the ‘Giro dei Laghi’ route, whilst observing the road signs and any regulations in force.

The valley also has several car parks, which are numbered and clearly signposted.

📍 Val Viola

Val Viola is accessible by car to the P4 car park in Altumeira, subject to availability.

Please note that parking spaces along the access road and at the P4 Altumeira car park are limited.

In addition to the car park at Altumeira, there are a few car parks along the access road, which also have limited capacity.

If there are no parking spaces available in the valley, you can leave your car in the car park near the entrance to the valley or above the Albergo Viola.

Val Lia

From 31 August, it is once again possible to drive along the Val Lia as far as the car park in Prescedont, subject to availability.

Several car parks are available along the access road, including those at Praolin, Prada Benedida, and Prescedont.

To access Val Lia, you must have the relevant day ticket costing €5.00, which you can purchase online or at the Valdidentro Tourist Office.

🅿️ Car parks and availability of spaces

In all three valleys, please note that paying the parking charge does not guarantee a parking space.

Specifically:

• Cancano has several numbered and signposted car parks, and, as of 31 August, the road running around the lakes is open to traffic once again.
• Val Viola has the P4 Altumeira car park and several smaller car parks along the access road. Entry is permitted subject to availability.
• Val Lia has several car parks along the road and, from 31 August, it is once again possible to access the car park in Prescedont.
