The side valleys of the Valdidentro municipality (Cancano, Val Viola and Val Lia) are currently accessible.

Access tickets

A daily ticket for € 5.00, valid for transit and parking, is always necessary to reach these valleys.

Cancano and Val Viola access tickets can be purchased at the automatic totems along the access roads. The totems accept coins, banknotes and credit cards but do not give change.

Since there are a relatively limited number of parking spaces in Val Lia, you must have a ticket to access the car parks, which can only be purchased at the Valdidentro Tourist Office during opening hours (even on previous days).

The ticket must be displayed on the vehicle's dashboard in a visible position during transit and parking (motorbikes are not obliged to display the ticket, but it must be carried with you).

Please note that these roads are not accessible to motor homes and caravans.

Summer regulation

Cancano

During the summer months of July and August, which are characterised by a more significant influx of tourists, as far as Cancano is concerned, from 12 July to 30 August, there is also a restriction on vehicular transit on the road around the lakes from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and a shuttle service is therefore provided.

During this period, the area can be reached by public transport via the Cancano Express service, which operates from July 12 to August 30. The service leaves from Piazza IV Novembre in Isolaccia at 9:30 a.m. and returns from Cancano at 5:40 p.m. (except on 11 and 26 July and 27 and 30 August). Between 8 and 16 August, an additional run departs at 10:30 a.m. and a further return run at 6 p.m.

Schedules and fares for the shuttles and the Cancano Express available soon!

Please note: Animals are not allowed on board the shuttles.

Val Viola

When the road is open and passable, subject to availability, the Val Viola can be travelled as far as the P4 car park at Altumeira.

On 4–5, 11–12, 18–19 July and daily from 25 July to 30 August, Val Viola is served by a shuttle service that allows you to travel comfortably by vehicle along the road from Arnoga to Altumeira.

Please note: Animals are not allowed on board the shuttles.

! IMPORTANT !

From 11 July to 30 August, access to the Val Viola road inbound is restricted between 11:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., except for residents and property owners with a valid permit, as well as holders of multi-day permits.

Car parks

Cancano

The Cancano Valley features large, numbered, and well-marked car parks, primarily located between the Torri di Fraele and the entrance to the Cancano dam.

Val Viola

In Val Viola, in addition to the Altumeira car park, there are other car parks along the access road, but they are of minimal capacity. If these parking spaces are unavailable, you can leave your car in the car park near Baita Viola, at the entrance to the valley, or above Albergo Viola.

Val Lia

Val Lia has several relatively small car parks (Praolin, Prada Benedida, and Prescedont) along the access road, as well as a larger one at 'Plan de li Astela'. The car park at the little church in Prescedont is inaccessible between 4 July and 30 August.
