A traditional event organised by the Alpini of Pedenosso with Holy Mass and a typical Alpine lunch
Thomas Anselmi
The gathering organised by the Alpini of Pedenosso at St. James of Fraele is one of the events that mark the Alpine summer in Valdidentro: different moments, yet all united by the same spirit of community and tradition.
This year’s edition of the gathering in Cancano holds special significance, as it marks the 50th anniversary of the Feast of St. James, an important milestone that reflects the continuity and value of a deeply rooted tradition.
The program includes the solemn Holy Mass at 11:00 AM, animated by the Stelvio Choir and celebrated by Luciano Capelli, Bishop Emeritus of the Solomon Islands. Participants will include the Alpine youth training camp, representatives of the Alpine groups, the official banner, and an honour guard from the 5th Alpini Regiment, adding further meaning to the occasion.
This will be followed by the traditional Alpine lunch, a convivial moment to share a meal and spend time together.
A simple yet authentic event, part of the summer calendar of Alpine gatherings in Valdidentro, each with its own story and significance.
