Temporary RTZ and Car Passes: the Special Mobility System for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games
Valdidentro Tourism
During the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, for reasons of public order, in agreement with the Prefecture, Police Headquarters and law enforcement agencies, certain areas of the territories involved will be affected by an extraordinary traffic regulation system through the introduction of temporary Limited Traffic Zones: the Olympic LTZs.
These measures will only be in place on competition days and at specific times depending on the location, with the aim of ensuring the safety of the event and its spectators, while minimising the impact on the daily lives of residents.
The areas affected by the Olympic LTZs will be Livigno, Valdidentro, Bormio, Valdisotto and Valfurva.
During the periods when the special LTZs are in operation, access will only be granted to vehicles displaying the appropriate badge: the “Car Pass”, which must be displayed on the windscreen.
This system will guarantee free movement for all those entitled to the Pass Auto - residents, second home owners, commuters, commercial and manufacturing businesses, accommodation facilities and their guests, delivery or logistics services and other authorised categories indicated on the platform - while restricting access to unauthorised vehicles.
This will allow competitions to be held in harmony with local mobility, limiting access by private vehicles to the most sensitive areas and encouraging the use of public transport, which will be enhanced for the occasion and has always been one of the sustainability choices adopted by the Games Organising Committee.
Important >> the special restricted traffic zones will only regulate access to cities: it will therefore always be possible to leave freely.
The Car Pass must be requested via the dedicated platform > passauto.milanocortina2026.org
This tool will allow you to:
The areas concerned will be divided into three zones (Zone 1, Zone 2 and Zone 3) defined on the basis of distance from the competition venues, access to population centres and main transport links. Each zone will have specific rules and activation times.
The ZTLs will only be active on certain days and at certain times, with controlled access points.
There are two types of Car Passes:
Vehicles without a Vehicle Pass may only pass through the gates when the Olympic LTZs are not active.
Consult the platform for detailed information and to apply for your Vehicle Pass.
