Valley closures: all the useful info

⚠️ Starting from 20 November 2025, all VASP roads (agro-forestry-pastoral roads) in the Municipality of Valdidentro are closed to vehicle traffic for the winter season, until further notice.

Access Tickets

During the period when VASP roads are open, a daily ticket is always required. The cost is €5.00 per vehicle, and the ticket is valid both for driving and parking.

• Cancano: Tickets can be purchased online or at the automatic ticket machines located along the access routes. The machines accept coins, banknotes, and credit cards, but they do not give change.
• Val Viola: Tickets can be purchased only at the automatic ticket machine located at the valley entrance. The machine accepts coins, banknotes, and credit cards, but does not give change.
• Val Lia: Tickets can be purchased online or at the Valdidentro Tourist Office during opening hours. You can also buy the ticket on the days before your visit; however, please note that the validity date is printed at the time of issue.

The ticket must be clearly displayed on the vehicle dashboard, both while driving and while parked. For motorcycles, displaying the ticket is not required, but it must be carried with you.

Please note that these roads are NOT ACCESSIBLE to campers or caravans.

UPDATE AS OF 20/11/2025 >> At this time, the only open refreshment point is Agriturismo Baita Caricc in Val Viola, open on Saturdays and Sundays (tel. 0342 232254).

All other mountain huts and eateries are currently closed.

Parking

Cancano

The Cancano valley has several large, clearly marked parking areas, mostly located between the Fraele Towers and the entrance to the Cancano dam.

Val Viola

In Val Viola, in addition to the Altumeira parking area (P4), there are a few small parking spots along the access road. If these are full, you can leave your car in the parking area near Baita Viola at the valley entrance, or in the area above Albergo Viola.

Val Lia

Val Lia offers several small parking areas (Praolin, Prada Benedida, and Prescedont) along the access road, as well as a larger area at “Plan de li Astela”.

Please note that the parking area near the small church of Prescedont is not accessible in July and August.
