Concert for reciting voice and piano, celebrating female mountaineering through the stories of five great female mountaineers
Alessia Compagnoni
Alpiniste: parole in concerto is an original performance conceived and performed by Natalia Ratti, a musician and mountain enthusiast.
This concert for reciting voice and piano combines narration, poetry and music to pay tribute to five great mountaineers: Wanda Rutkiewicz, Alison Hargreaves, Catherine Destivelle, Nives Meroi and Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner. Each of them corresponds to a narrative chapter enriched by pieces by classical composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninov and Grieg, performed live on the piano.
Through original texts and poetic excerpts, each of these extraordinary female figures comes to life. The tone, used first in whispers and then in intensity, becomes a musical instrument that dialogues with sounds, noises, and atmospheres.
The performance is distinguished by the absence of special effects or elaborate sets, focusing instead on an intimate and engaging experience. Words and music intertwine to tell the stories of these mountaineers, exploring themes such as loneliness, fatigue, beauty, and courage. The result is a narrative concert that, with an essential but engaging style, renders a dimension that reaches straight to the viewer.
